It's on HDNet Movies distressingly often. Maybe Mark Cuban's a fan.

Doesn't that version have X's cover of Jerry Lee Lewis's "Breathless"? About the only good thing in the whole film...

It is a toss up between Van Sant's Psycho and this for 'best framed buttocks in a remake'!

Confirmed as October release.

(Remember, cover art discussion goes here.)

It looks good... I'm dying to jack in my Optimum version, just wondering about Godard's 'Scenario', what be that?... Truffaut's original treatment is there, but not aware that Godard put pen to paper before filming - stand to be corrected as ever (but nothing in Breathless/ed. Dudley Andrew/Rutgers Films in Print)...

The extras on this look amazing, here's looking forward to that 80-minute documentary. I'm sure the interviews will be terrific, but no commentary?

unbe-fucking-lievable, no commentary
I admit the other extras look great but that's the second time Criterion dropped the ball on this release

I'm sure they could get Peter Cowie to drop by to talk about his preferred method of making ice cubes for 90 minutes if you're desperate for a commentary.

Full length commentary sometimes can be bettered by context, which seems to the aim of this rich CC package...

Let's not fetishize the audio commentary - this is offering interviews with seven participants / observers, two video essays (including what looks like From the Journals of Jean Seberg Redux (Copyright Lawyers Remix), plus a feature-length documentary, plus a hefty book with even more background material. How much more commentary on the film do you need?

Breathless has already inspired thousands of pages of writing, that's not as rhetorical a question as you make it sound

Chambre 12 is a very good documentary and is worth any commentary IMO.

That was my thinking too, but the fact that Criterion is calling this a "new" essay makes me wonder how much of FROM THE JOURNALS OF JEAN SEBERG is actually incorporated.

Anyone have any info on this?

Agreed. Would love to hear a good commentary on this one. But then again, the extra`s look excellent so I think we can`t complain too much about that one.

With a feature-length documentary and interviews with virtually everyone associated with the film, I can't imagine that a commentary would be anything but redundant. No use in Criterion wasting their time and money. Though if they could have picked up the extant Sterrit commentary on the cheap, it's worth a listen.

My mouth is watering. So what if there's no commentary?

count me as one of those who doesn't really mind not having a commentary on this. the only person who i would really care to comment on the film would be Godard himself, and that's never ever going to happen.

i'm sure some kind soul will rip the sterrit commentary and upload it somewhere. i've only listened to it once but from what i recall it was indeed really informative.

Well, I'm in the middle of looking for a house and am disorganized, but with this announcement I'm sure I can find the time to finally set fire to my old DVD. Will definitely get photos, too.

was " Charlotte et son Jules" on the original Breathless release? I'm pretty sure I've seen it, and I assume it isn't a criterion repeat from another Godard release...

what clinced this as a buy for me is seeing that Godard's short Charlotte et son Jules made it's way onto the dics. well done Criterion! :D
