My Sight & Sound obituary, which draws fairly heavily on the booklet essays I wrote for Second Run's Němec releases a few years ago - although with the label's enthusiastic permission and Sight & Sound's delight that this meant that I was able to deliver 2,000 words by the deadline instead of the requested 1,000.

The Party and the Guests is probably one of the most chilling films I've ever seen; the slightly jovial but eccentric start developing into something much more sinister and allegorical, although the final fade to black with dogs ravenously barking just ups that several more levels.

This reminds me of that 2002-2003 period when Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Dee Dee Ramone, John Entwistle, Rick Danko, Maurice Gibb and so many others died within a year of each other. It wasn't just the number of deaths and the fact that they had important roles in so much great music, it was also the fact that it covered a wide breadth of eras (i.e. ages) and genres.

I was just about to post the same thing. It is a truly tragic loss for Yang to pass away so young. Hopefully Yang will receive greater recognition for his work if at least posthumously, something he should have enjoyed while he was alive.
Sorry to quote a post from 2007, but I think that Yang will.

I've been watching her sitcom lately and she really was a great talent in her youth (not to mention her fearless Oscar-winning perf-- can't imagine any teenage girl letting herself be presented bare with no ego like that)

I used to watch her show on Nick at Nite when I was a kid but remember very little of it now outside of the memorable theme song. Her performance in The Miracle Worker was absolutely brilliant, and while some have argued that Angela Lansbury was overlooked for The Manchurian Candidate, I think the Academy got it right.
