Boardwalk Empire

I couldn't finish the first season of either show, and it doesn't seem as though they've caught on with the public. Aside from Luck I don't think there's anything on the network that catches my interest.
Well, I'll throw in my two cents. Never got into Treme. Bored to Death got axed just when it was getting good. I was also somewhat bored by how predictable Boardwalk Empire was on its first season so I only half-heartedly watched season two... until the last couple episodes, that is. The finale packed quite a wallop.
SpoilerShow
Jimmy Darmody got killed and, as good and as surprisingly satisfying his death was narrative-wise, it means I'm never going back to watching Empire since Michael Pitt's character and performance combo was pretty much the most interesting one of the whole roster by far.
I saw the Luck pilot and liked it quite a bit, I'll definitely be seeing it. Despite its fantasy origins (not a knock against the genre, just saying that fantasy-themed TV shows of quality are extremely rare), the best show on HBO right now is Game of Thrones. Easily. You should give a few episodes a try, I'd be surprised if you're not hooked by episode 3 or 4.

Fuck you, Anhedionisiac. Seriously, that level of disregard for spoiler-tagging should be ban-worthy.

As someone who was still moving through Season 2, I also co-sign the dickishness.

No kidding. I was just looking for an opinion. I'll probably never even bother with the show now.

I managed to scroll down as soon as I skimmed the word "killed", thankfully.

Oh, man. Sorry, guys, I wasn't thinking, I totally forgot about the spoiler tags. I'll never make that mistake again. I understand if that won't wash but I swear it wasn't on purpose.
Apologies all around and thanks to the mod who edited my post so it had spoiler tags (sorry for the hassle, mods).

Eh, I'm still pissed at you, to be honest. Really sucks that the series won't have anywhere close to the same impact now - I think I'll just be passing it over.

I don't blame you, I feel really bad about it and I wish there was a way to make up for it.
For what it's worth, I think the last three episodes are pretty poignant even knowing the outcome in advance.
In fact, I'd recommend skipping the rest of the season since that's where the meat and potatoes are.

So is season three worth it? I struggled through the second season, and am right there with Anhedionisiac's spoiler-tagged comments (and the non spoilery one right before this post you are now reading).

Though it's pretty funny if people really did give up on this show because Anhedionisiac ruined it for them.

*raises hand* I gave up on it because Anhedionisiac ruined it for me. God, looking at this thread now makes me mad all over again - it's not even like he posted it in the show's thread, just smack dab in the middle of the TV of 2012 thread. Ugh.

Season 3 is significantly better than the first two.

Season 3 has been interesting so far with new characters. Nice to see sexy Patricia Arquette!
