It gets so much worse when you realize there's a person in the flame. At first it's just a boring torch photo and then it's surreal comedy.

The worst thing about the cover is how the fire looks nothing like fire, but instead like some type of gold silk.

I've never seen Chariots of Fire, but I've always liked the poster.

That new blu cover is yet another example of intelligent and tasteful design discarded for horrible photoshop hack work.

I would have preferred a still of the music video, preferably one with Vangelis smoking while watching the film at the piano.

Oh my gosh I shouldn't have been drinking when I clicked...I was rather confused why she would be walking around the city in her swimsuit, but apparently she's in an excessively lit room.

Really not comfortable with the way Mozart, Handel, and Vivaldi are looking at me.

EDIT: Oh god, this one from the same link -- Man Ray is spinning in his grave.

At first I read it as "The Rise Of The Mahers"... Bill and his brothers?

Kind of hilarious how the wig obscures the title of the series. Also amazing that they brought in a bunch of people, dressed them up and told them to look severe and like a classical composer from antiquity. "And you...you're posing as Bach. You...you're Handel." The atmosphere at that photo shoot must have been creepy.

It's actually "The Rise Of the Mahlers".

Wait, those aren't even CD covers, just art to accompany a page of mp3s you can download. Why did they go to so much effort, and simultaneously so little effort?

Well, actually none of those people look anything like any of those composers, so these are probably stock photos of guys in powdered wigs (or stock photos of guys with powdered wigs photoshopped onto them).

Really? I thought the Schubert was pretty close, actually. Look at the chin and mouth.

The real Shubert doesn't look like someone just tried to explain Dianetics to him, though

Eh, OK, the actors in each picture have some feature that vaguely resembles a feature from one of the composers. Vaguely. But that's different than if these people actually looked like the composers. Look at Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms...not even close. Of course, I'm going by memory here, but if I saw any of those pictures without a label saying who they were supposed to be, I'd never guess correctly.

Then there's that whole Easter Island posture they all have on those MP3 covers...

This is is the best one, where all of the composers from the individual releases team up in a kind of Marvel superhero poster homage (I wonder what each of their superpowers would be? Aside from Brahm's laser eye vision that we are all familiar with from the historical records of course):

This was a sadly missed opportunity to have The Mighty Five posing as Power Rangers. Everything is a sadly missed opportunity to have The Mighty Five posing as Power Rangers.

I knew sooner or later someone was going to bring back some horrible music covers. I found these not so long ago:

Quite.

I could be mistaken, but it looks to me like the covers are an attempt to appeal to fans of symphonic metal, as if to say "Nightwish didn't invent symphonic-ness in music; it actually originated with these guys! Sure they're old timey, but they still ROCK! Check em out if you're MAN enough!"

It's like the edition of Romeo and Juliet with the Twilight cover.

I think there should be a worst albums covers thread instead for these, but I'll just add this one, and it's
not safe for work
