Apparently, not a joke. The official Albert Pyun Director's Cut DVD-R of 1990's Captain America

God, Albert Pyun looks a lot like Hans Moleman

I haven't seen his Captain America, but something tells me it lacks the pathos of Moleman's Man Getting Hit By Football.

That is the most brilliant tagline I have ever read. I wonder how they came up with it.

I think that was plagiarized from a Top Gun arcade machine circa 1992

The forest colors of every bit of promotional art for the film I've ever seen fit perfectly to me. This looks like an attempt to make the film look like Fargo.

I agree it's not ideal, but it's reasonably attractive on its own terms. I'd watch that movie, you know? And it's not flagrantly misleading about the movie itself.

I never thought the old DVD art was all that awesome (the original poster was nice, though), but I'm not seeing a real problem here. It's different, but not "worst ever" by several long stretches.

Do we need to bring out Repulsion again to show what true worst ever art looks like?

Yeah. I assume he's referring to this atrocity.

I'm with swo on the inclusion of Miller's Crossing cover. It is an affront to anyone who knows and loves the film to take that iconic image and give it the torture porn color treatment. Talk about lazy AND misguided...

You know ... I hadn't made the "torture porn" association myself but now that you mention it I can see what you mean.

Assuming you get the channel, you'll get your chance to watch it (well not Pyun's director's cut, but the cut that was released) on July 21st when SyFy (ugh) runs Pyun's Captain America and the two 1979 tv movies:
July 21 5pm CAPTAIN AMERICA (1979)
July 21 7pm CAPTAIN AMERICA II (1979)
July 21 9pm CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990)
July 21 11pm CAPTAIN AMERICA (1979)
July 22 2pm CAPTAIN AMERICA (1979)
July 22 4pm CAPTAIN AMERICA II (1979)
July 22 6pm CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990)
