Thanks for all your hard word on these lists Gordon. I will mention though that as I sit here I'm looking at my copy of The Laughing Policeman. It's bare bones but available for under 10 bucks.

God, I am ashamed! I love Matthau and Dern, yet I had never checked up on this film - I never knew it starred those two whackos! I always thought that the movie was a lame comedy, but it sounds great - cheers!

Making these lists isn't so much "hard work", it just requires patience and judicious editing!

Thanks, Harold!

Heh. Makes me think of that story Dick van Dyke was telling on the talk show circuit when The Runner Stumbles hit theaters. People kept asking him if it was a comedy about joggers.
No thank you Gordon.

I must thank flixyflox and Ashirg: those were fundemantal correctons/additions!

Fox seems to have a heavy load of unreleased 60s and 70s gems. Obscure stuff, but very, very interesting titles. Emperor of the North; Pole The Other; The Kremlin Letter; Pretty Poison; Bedazzled; The Quiller Memorandum; Fate Is the Hunter; Compulsion; Bigger Than Life - hurry up, Fox! We are all waiting!

What's so great about Fox is that they are willing to licence their titles to other companies. Anchor Bay, Criterion in U.S. and Optimum, Eureka, Second Sight, etc in U.K.

Great list! I love these lists! What about Raoul Walsh's The Bowery? It was the first film to be released by Twentieth Century Pictures, if I remember.

Another one to add is Banjo on My Knee starring Joel McCrea and Barbara Stanwyck from 1936. They've been showing it some on the Fox Movie Channel lately.

Rally Round the Flag, Boys! (1958) should be added to the list, unless there is a release somewhere that I don't know about.

A poster over at HTF just wrote that Fox Brasil (R4) announced Down Argentine Way and The Purple Heart for a March release. No other details but the poster seemed to believe that DAW would be part of a second wave of Fox musicals.

Are you reading this, David? Let's hope we get The Gang's All Here too (but whatever you do, don't poo-poo Paduca!)

It probably is. I just remember the first time my wife and I drove across America how amazed I was to see that these were real places. Who knew? The "reality" of America was always a bit thinner a concept to me than it as being one big movie.

BTW, it appears that Jesse James was anounced too for R4 release in March.

I'm pretty sure they're talking about the 1939 Henry King-directed version that was produced by 20cFox.

In other news, DVD Timesjust announced that Fox UK is releasing two waves of classic titles:

January 16th (1st wave):

Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte (1946)
The Gunfighter (1950)
Heaven Can Wait (1943)
The Dark Corner (1946)
The Razor's Edge (1946)
The Street with No Name (1948)
Somewhere in the Night (1946)

February 20th (2nd wave):

Stowaway (1936)
The Barbarian and the Geisha (1958)
Poor Little Rich Girl (1936)
Curse of the Fly (1965)
Captain January (1936)
Morituri (1965)
Our Little Girl (1935)

Kind of glad to see the Shirley Temple titles (they'll probably show up on the (R1) vol. 3 box) and Barbarian and the Geisha.

Compulsion and a few others were just announced. There is a thread in the "old films" forum.

Awesome. One wonders if Fox is reading this list! :D

If only Paramount and Universal were so prolific with their vintage films.
