Apparently the new Adventures in Babysitting Blu contains a promo for an upcoming 25th Anniversary Edition of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? on Blu-ray. That means it should be out next year!

That should provide ample lead time for everyone to get up in arms about how they're releasing the censored version rather than the theatrical one.

I've been wondering about that--what exactly was cut out?

I think he might be talking about the joke frames by the animators that caused a bit of a scandal with the laserdisc, which allowed viewers to go through the film frame by frame and discover the naughty bits.

I like how it's 'sharper' (i.e. more detailed), but the contrast in those screencaps look boosted, and that I don't like.

90's kids rejoice: Heavyweights coming out, and getting a rather unusually packed release.

Wonderful news. It was never even released in its OAR on DVD.

Also being released 12/11/12:

Babes in Toyland (1961)
Dick Tracy (1990)
The Joy Luck Club (1993)

Babes in Toyland is the first Walt-produced live-action era film to be released on Blu-ray by Disney.

It's good that the pre-40 Year Old Virgin Judd Apatow productions are getting good extras as well as the current titles. "The Cable Guy" got a very good Blu-ray last year as well. I wonder what that means for "Celtic Pride"....

That's truly wonderful news, provided they don't fuck it up Color of Money style.

Hopefully Mann is involved with this release like he was with Last Of The Mohicans. That it's coming out so soon after that release is promising.

LOL. Joking aside, here's hoping the three Roger Rabbit shorts are included in HD.

I'm betting it'll have the same features, which could still mean there's a chance Criterion to do an edition, but further down the road I would guess.
