I literally bought one of those titles on DVD less than twelve hours ago. Shame stops me from admitting which

No shame in Cry-Baby, nor to a lesser extent in Bring It On (it has its charms), so I'm gonna guess you bought Kindergarten Cop, since you seem like the type who enjoys seeing Carroll Baker firing shots at Arnie. But then aren't we all that type?domino harvey wrote:I literally bought one of those titles on DVD less than twelve hours ago. Shame stops me from admitting which

Was just watching the Travolta-version Hairspray the other day briefly on TV, and even my wife who loves John Waters doesn't care for Cry Baby.Feego wrote:No shame in Cry-Baby, nor to a lesser extent in Bring It On (it has its charms), so I'm gonna guess you bought Kindergarten Cop, since you seem like the type who enjoys seeing Carroll Baker firing shots at Arnie. Also, I can't think of a single charm in Bring It On, which I find unwatchable, and the cool punk/Clash t-shirt wearing older brother is so cringe-worthy.

Cry-Baby is the theatrical cut only, sadly.

I'd bet the house on either Bring It On or Little Rascals.domino harvey wrote:I literally bought one of those titles on DVD less than twelve hours ago. Shame stops me from admitting which

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
Was the theatrical cut ever released on DVD? I can only seem to find information about the release of the director's cut. The blu-ray.com article says Cry-Baby will have director's commentary, but I'd presume that commentary comes from the Director's Cut DVD. Will Universal be editing the commentary, not actually including it, or might the Blu-Ray actually contain the director's cut?manicsounds wrote:Cry-Baby is the theatrical cut only, sadly.

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
Theatrical cut was released on DVD
Both directors cuts and theatrical cuts DVDs had the director's commentary (just edited to fit the shorter cut, I believe)

They've released a number of these titles individually already. There's no way I'm buying that whole set just for The Beguiled, but I'd sure be happy for a stand alone issue of that title.

With the release of this film on Blu-ray along with TWIN PEAKS and IGUANA, actor Everett McGill is having a good year!captveg wrote:9/2/14...

Great that it's getting released for the Region A market, though its worth noting there's an Arrow release with lots of extras. Some may have missed that because I don't believe it was reviewed at Blu-ray.com or DVD Beaver.

Spielberg box coming October 14
Here's hoping they'll sell them individually, too. I need Duel on blu-ray.

It'll be good to get 1941 and Always on Blu-- they're not even anamorphic on DVD-- but really, I agree, where the hell is Munich?!

Munich came out in 2005--perhaps a standalone anniversary edition is on the way next year?domino harvey wrote:It'll be good to get 1941 and Always on Blu-- they're not even anamorphic on DVD-- but really, I agree, where the hell is Munich?!

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
Maybe the rights to Munich ended up at DreamWorks so that it will be released either by Paramount or Touchstone.
I hope the films that haven't been released previously get singles because the Jurassic Parks in this box are redundant with that franchise's box set.
According to this press release, Duel will be in widescreen (arguably problematic; it was a TV movie, but the cut that was released on DVD was the European theatrical release) and 1941 will contain both cuts (thank you, Universal, although it would have been nice if you'd included both cuts of Duel).

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
I think the separate release for Munich theory holds up, because the set also conspicuously omits Schindler's List. Maybe Spielberg didn't wants those two more serious works lumped in with this more entertainment-oriented set.

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
It would be Paramount, as I think the Disney deal only applies to the films being put out currently.PfR73 wrote:Maybe the rights to Munich ended up at DreamWorks so that it will be released either by Paramount or Touchstone.

the question remains-will 1941 include the original theatrical cut, or just Spielberg's longer version?
A real shame that SUGARLAND EXPRESS only has a trailer. That movie deserves much more love than Universal is giving it.

Re: Universal Catalog Titles on Blu
My theory seems to be correct. Also, that response from Universal does seem to imply that they do indeed have the rights to Munich.
