To Catch a Thief Blu coming in March

I hope this opens the gate for yet more Hitchcock on Blu.

That track was also missing from the 2009 DVD, in case that makes you feel any better.

I don't remember the Bogdanovich comm being a good track (I can't remember if I ever even bothered to finish it), but anything would be better than ol' Whispering Smith

I don't mind Drew Casper compared to Bogdanovich. I especially am not a fan of Bogdanovich doing impersonations of others, (he does John Ford's voice or Hitchcock's voice when he talks about them, and they aren't very good....)

More than you ever wanted to know about Whispering Smith (go to page 13.) "No more tattoos. People with your brains and looks don't need gimmicks."

Pre-orders are up at Amazon.com and Walmart. It seems to be Paramount's "big catalogue" title for April. So far we have:
January - Wings
February - Love Story
March - To Catch a Thief
April - Chinatown

Paramount 100 is quite lame compared to Universal 100, but still better than nothing.

Those features look very good. And a commentary from David Fincher...didn't see that one coming.

Agreed, but the lack of DTS baffles me.

All the special features were on the Centennial collection DVD released in 2009.

Why would you need DTS if you have Dolby TrueHD?

You do realize the film was recorded in shitty mono, yes? Complaints about the HD audio codec are like complaints about saturation levels in a colorized restoration.

That Towne/Fincher commentary completely flew under my radar, I'll be checking out the DVD right away.

You do realize that compressed lossy audio is worse than lossless audio, mono or not, right?

Which is not an issue here, since the disc includes a Dolby TrueHD track.

It's certainly pretty great as far as commentaries go. Although I found it rather amusing how Fincher periodically points out certain elements which he thinks flawed and would have done better himself.

And it's also very nice to see that Paramount and Universal have started offering original mono/stereo mixes in lossless.

Does Wings have its own thread? I couldn't find it.

COME BACK LITTLE SHEBA. This film was on laserdisc and dvd but the soundtrack music was altered in the typical Paramount fashion. Assume they would not pay the fee.
