Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
It looks like Visconti's 'Rocco e i suoi fratelli' has moved from MoC to BFI in the UK... Amazon has it as a 'Limited Edition Dual Format' out 23 November.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers
Fantastic!... I'm guessing the BFI has some sort of broad arrangement covering a number of Cineteca di Bologna restorations, including this and the multiple Rossellinis just released on BR...

Re: Rocco and His Brothers
Amazon's listing for this release disappeared today. Anyone who preordered it as part of Amazon's recent promotion may want to see if this messed up their order.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers
Yeah I noticed this just an hour ago when I was seeing if the listing had been updated and couldn't find it! Has also been removed from the original announcement on the BFI site...what's going on? I assume it has been cancelled for the time being.
My guess is that Eureka still have the rights, or there was some other complication. Either way I hope it gets released, whether it comes from BFI or MoC.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers
Yeah it's weird that Eureka's MoC DVD just shot up in price - it was £7.99, or thereabouts, last I checked (the last day or two)! I wonder if that's further indication that they're releasing it instead of the BFI. It's certainly starting to look that way...

It sounds like this edition was quite limited indeed

Bloody hell! Hope sense can prevail & the resto can still see the light of day on UK/IRL BR somehow...

Re: Rocco and His Brothers
Straight from the horse's mouth - BFI replied to my Tweet to them in regards to Rocco and His Brothers being cancelled:
Yes, we've cancelled our planned edition because @Eurekavideo do indeed still have it.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
It's actually a forbearer of the future or a lag of the past, the disparity between oldish rights and newish restoration master... BFI appear to have access to the latter under a broad deal including the Rossellinis from Cineteca di Bologna, while MoC seems it won't go for the premium to licence that resto from Cineteca di Bologna (or via BFI deal) in addition to their existing rights, and I guess not to upgrade their less than ideal DVD... Sorry state, all round!...

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
Wow, what a bummer. But surely Criterion will acquire the resto rights?

I believe Milestone has it in the U.S., unless that's just the theatrical rights.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
I was just in Bologna where they were talking about how marvellous the new restoration looked on the Cineteca screen... Please guys (BFI & MoC, MoC & BFI...) get together on this one and don't deprive us of ROCCO E I SUOI FRATELLI on pristine BR - even if it necessitates an one-off joint venture/release or suchlike!...
(And to accompany such a release the BFI could also appropriately republish Sam Rohdie's excellent BFI Classic monograph on ROCCO...)

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
When do we expect to see the Blu Ray (1) in US, and (2) in UK?

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
Since nobody has announced a release date in either territory, nobody can answer that question.

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
My guess would be early 2016 for the UK...or a little later if they decide to do a theatrical release first (like they did with Dragon Inn, to give an example) - somebody on another forum pointed out Eureka are presenting the new version at LFF next week (or at least still the UK distributor, as they had already pointed out when BFI cancelled theirs, and have hinted they will be releasing it here).

Re: Rocco and His Brothers (release cancelled)
It was just released in Spain. I wonder it it's the new restoration but my bet it is:

Check out the little picture of the BluRay cover -- what looks like Restoration 4K can be seen.
