Obnoxious Spine Number Speculation and Whining
I realize it's pretty arbitrary, but does anyone else think that this massive Ford at Fox-size Kurosawa boxset is going to be spine 500?

They'll save that for Ride With The Devil just to annoy people.Izo wrote:I realize it's pretty arbitrary, but does anyone else think that this massive Ford at Fox-size Kurosawa boxset is going to be spine 500?

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.2
Why would "Kurosawa at Kriterion" have a spine number? Granted that this looks to be a mostly unprecedented sort of release but none of the similar things like the gift set for Bergman, the Rialto set, the Essential Art House sets, etc. have had spine numbers.Izo wrote:I realize it's pretty arbitrary, but does anyone else think that this massive Ford at Fox-size Kurosawa boxset is going to be spine 500?

I'm putting the whole kitty in for the 25 Blu-ray box set of the films of Jacques Rivette for #500.

For the record, we will NOT be engaging in speculation about what spine #500 will be. To discover why, see the idiotic thread about what people thought spine #400 (Stranger Than Paradise) was going to be.

Oooh, justeleblanc came very close to predicting the correct title. And I think I was right in my prediction as well.Matt wrote:For the record, we will NOT be engaging in speculation about what spine #500 will be. Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.2
I think criterion will skip 500 and go straight to 657, leaving everyone to speculate why they would skip to such a number and causing all forum members' heads to explode, at which point swimminghorses will take over the forum and convert it to his own graphic design emporium, fulfilling his long-planned revenge. End scene.

Criterion does need to do a booklet or something for their 500 film catalog so far.

Re: Obnoxious Speculation About What Spine 500 Will Be
It will be a dual presentation of 300 and 200 MOTELS (cute joke for all you math lovers out there!)
But seriously folks...
we all know that #s 500 - 504 will be the COLOR FILMS OF BRESSON box. Personally can't wait for this.

500 will be lots and lots of porn from the 70's and 80's especially starring Veronica Hart, Seka and Annette Haven!

Lol ...
I havent started this, but I will have a go too ... Let's do some arithmetics ...
In the Chinese Cultural Revolution there were 5 model operas (at least initially) and then there was one beautiful ballet modelled on Xie Jin's feature film "Red detachment of Women". This will be spine 500-506. With commentaries by Paul Clark.

Matt, you can at least take comfort in the fact that the substance of this thread is such, that it earned associative attention from the bots which threw up a Trojan condom ad with the tag line "Feels like there's nothing there."
It's really a great slogan, and I can think of quite a number of products and individuals you could slap that logo up onto.

"Feels like there's nothing there". That's kind of an ambiguous statement isn't it?

If you're on top of your partner and she says "Wow-- feel's like there's nothing there..." you might want to run headfirst thru the nearest plate glass window. After a pit stop next to a yardstick of course...

Perhaps this is criterion subliminally telling us that spine 500 will be Herman's Head.
edit: Notice how right when I post my reply the ad quickly changes to one for Ray-Ban sunglasses! Those bots are working for criterion, they are!

Re: Obnoxious Speculation About What Spine 500 Will Be
When I made the last post it was an ad for Christian dvds. How quickly we bring up sex and the morality thing pops up. Typical Catholic guilt.
It's too bad this thread will likely be deleted. Sometimes it's funny to see how quickly threads can devolve into stupidity.
