Criterion Newsletter: Clues and More, Volume Four
I think hollis is our winner here. Good work.
(However, it still doesn't explain that awkward second Popsicle.)

Probably to prevent it from looking overtly sexual.ptatler wrote:I think hollis is our winner here. Good work.

In Cold Blood is rather clever. I'm 50/50 on that or OLLA.

It's such a silly, fun-loving clue for such a deeply disquieting film!

Could it be a double clue for both films?captveg wrote:In Cold Blood is rather clever. I'm 50/50 on that or OLLA.

The did break the double clue precedent officially with the Ride the Pink Horse / The Black Stallion clue (though we didn't realize it at the time).

Can we start a "Double Clue: What Does IT Mean?" thread for this continually useless speculation?giovannii84 wrote: Could it be a double clue .... ?

Thank you! I honestly thought that was too ridiculous to be true. Glad to be wrong. Either way, I'm looking forward to this release, Conrad Hall's photography should look great on blu-ray.FrauBlucher wrote:Anytime you feel like being "embarrassing," go right ahead.hollis wrote:Enormous, probably embarrassing stretch: In Cold Blood? What about the traditional Popsicles that have two sticks so you can break them in half? That's what this is referring to, I'm pretty sure.captveg wrote:Probably to prevent it from looking overtly sexual.ptatler wrote:I think hollis is our winner here. Good work.

In Cold Blood is an excellent solution! Actually, this is one of their more clever cartoons, I think.

Re: Criterion Newsletter: Clues and More, Volume Four
I first thought it was Ziggy Stardust, so a Velvet Goldmine clue.
Then people started seeing it as a vampire, which still seems like a stretch (well, pointy ears + somewhat of fangs). So then I thought it would be Horror Hotel, the great PD vampire film.
But the In Cold Blood reasoning makes sense + it was confirmed recently.
Polan sure has moved away from the days of "Aces in Holes" or the "High Definition, Low Wages."

I can't tell if it's Michael Caine getting his head squeezed for Dressed to Kill or Brian De Palma approving the transfer.

Thanks cgray, as Swo's image didn't show up for me.
I assume this clue is further clarification of the soldiers / blinded ones in the New Years Clue, which nobody was able to solve in any meaningful way. The best we came up with was the following list (do any of these make sense with this clue?):
Tom Jones
Napoleon
Barry Lyndon
Les Miserables
Edit
He looks like Bach, and is "blind." Any film have Bach in it?
