There's a Stonehenge on the guy's map. And the rose could be an American Beauty.

The car, the unfinished/broken bridge & the disturbed ground below could be referencing Kiarostami's LIFE AND NOTHING MORE where they drive through the earthquake stricken Northern Iran of 1990 attempting to reach & revisit Koker, the scene of the first film in the trilogy, WHERE IS THE FRIEND'S HOUSE?....

While highly unlikely the bridge makes me think of the golden gate bridge and therefore of Vertigo or ... Zodiac?

The frame of the New Years newsletter itself is not typically a clue. For example, the building in 2013 did not reference anything nor the scenario in 2014. If the pattern continues, this won't either.

By the way, I posted this over on the Blu-ray forums. Hopefully this can help us in terms of figuring out the remaining clues. :)

Alright, here is the latest update. I'm going to take a break because this is hurting my head.
THE SKY
  • The two suns appear to be referencing The Dardenne Brothers' Two Days, One Night (2014)
THE LEFT GROUNDS
  • The setback house with the moon above it is referencing Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom (2012).
  • The man under the bridge (Llewyn Davis) is referencing The Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).
THE MIDDLE GROUNDS
  • The masked individuals with knives are referencing _______________.
  • The cowboys and the soldier with knives are referencing _______________.
THE BRIDGE
  • The group of hooded figures is referencing David Cronenberg's The Brood (1979).
  • The man running for dear life (Harold Lloyd) is referencing Ted Wilde's Speedy (1928).
  • The two individuals and their car appear to be referencing Stanley Donen's Two for the Road (1967).
  • The man at the end of the bridge (Wallace Shawn) is referencing Jonathan Demme's A Master Builder (2013).
  • The floating strands at the end of the bridge appear to be referencing Yasujirô Ozu's Floating Weeds (1959).
  • The big clock set to "1:23" appears to be referencing both Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three (1961) and John Farrow's The Big Clock (1948).
THE WATER
  • The crowned man fishing in the boat is referencing Terry Gilliam's The Fisher King (1991).
  • The eyeball is referencing Marlon Brando's One-Eyed Jacks (1961).
  • The colonial ship is referencing Terrence Malick's The New World (2005).
THE RIGHT GROUNDS
  • The man pushing the cart is referencing _______________.
  • The girl with her back turned appears to be referencing Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984).
  • The pyre is referencing _______________.
  • The rose is referencing _______________.

Oh God, you may be right. It's with Paramount, and there is some history with the label. I am going with this guess.

It's with Warner Bros. now, thank Christ.

Or this for The Window. Maybe one of the Warner (RKO) titles.

That seems like too marketable a title to license... But who knows? They've had some surprising acquisitions recently.

EDIT: American Beauty, I mean.

I guess it could be Bette Midler's the Rose, which is with Fox. But I still think it has to be American Beauty

If so, I'm already preparing my bitching about how they didn't pick up Jarhead/Revolutionary Road instead (unless they did, in which case I default to my regular state of excitement mixed with passive-aggression).

When I saw Stonehenge, my first thought was that they got the rights to Spinal Tap back.

It's probably for (***SPOILER ALERT***) the Hours and then Chris can just right click delete the forum as none of us will want any lingering association with that

Could the marching soldiers be Barry Lyndon? Maybe this was one of the titles Criterion got from Warner...

These are obviously wrong, but they may lead us to something
The car on the bridge= Mulholland Drive
The group of people chasing a person= Pink Floyd The Wall
If those guys are actually monks= The Adventures Of Robin Hood
The bridge that was blown up= Blowup

The group with knives facing off against the soldiers distinctly have Xs for mouths. Could that indicate something?
