They put The Entertainer out on laserdisc, so that would be my guess.

Blue Sky would be great, though that seems more like a Twilight Time release

Don't forget about The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968) as well.

You like it? I would love to hear a defense I so disliked it. I'd love for either his Hamlet or Sanctuary with The Story of Temple Drake as an extra.domino harvey wrote:Blue Sky would be great, though that seems more like a Twilight Time release

Criterion has had the rights to A Taste of Honey for awhile via Westchester.

The only available as a bootleg LAUGHTER IN THE DARK would be terrific. Rushes from it with Richard Burton, who was let go several days into the start of production, were unearthed not too long ago and could make an amazing supplement. Sony has Richardson's underrated HAMLET, which could make it a cool Richardson/Nicol Williamson double feature.

I'd love for The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner to be released by Criterion.

I suppose its reputation as the absolute worst Nabokov film adaptation has now been passed on to Marleen Gorris's hilariously misconceived travesty of The Defence, but I don't know that that's much of a recommendation!beamish13 wrote:The only available as a bootleg LAUGHTER IN THE DARK would be terrific. Well, a quick imdb search reveals the intriguing and terrifying prospect of a recent short film based on 'Signs and Symbols' (about as adaptable to a different medium as 'The Vane Sisters', I would have thought), a full-fledged feature based on 'The Event', and a five minute short that allegedly adapts Despair - so perhaps that competition is still wide open.

Not to mention Skolimowski's own discarded adaptation.

According to her official website, Travelfilm Company, The Inland Sea is undergoing a "major" restoration and remastering from the original 35mm elements and the final restoration results will be housed in a new "archival home." Sounds like this Voyager-released docu's new "home" is inside the big C.ordinaryperson wrote:Lucille Carra

My guess is that "The Inland Sea" is going to be issued as a supplement on a Criterion release of Shindo's "The Naked Island", a film which Masters of Cinema has recently released.

Re: The Mystery of the Phantom Web Pages
I am not an enthusiastic fan of Shindo's Naked Island, but I am hoping that Criterion would pair this release with his 2000 biopic about Tonoyama, "By Player." Those two films from Shindo plus this documentary would make for a decent release.DeprongMori wrote:My guess is that "The Inland Sea" is going to be issued as a supplement on a Criterion release of Shindo's "The Naked Island", a film which Masters of Cinema has recently released.

Primary, maybe?

Ideally this would equal out to a Les Blank equivalent expansive set of his documentaries, but I suspect either Primary or some Pennebaker/Maysles contribution will be the ultimate culprit (hopefully not just an Eclipse).ordinaryperson wrote:Robert Drew
Primary was a rather great film / hilarious (watched it with someone from Wisconsin). Be prepared to hear the awful "High Hopes" campaign song, and lots of awkward Hubert Humphrey moments (especially with him trying to play down the inherent rivalry between Minnesota and Wisconsin). Plus you get to learn just how the candidates love / think farmers are so important to America.

Re: The Mystery of the Phantom Web Pages
I feel like this has to have been pointed out by somebody else, but the constant question of what the Woody Allen phantom page corresponds to must surely be Take the Money and Run? The page immediately before it is Mickey Rose and after it is Janet Margolin (and after that, Marcel Hillaire, etc.) so therefore that's the only option available?

Re: The Mystery of the Phantom Web Pages
No, someone suggested "Interiors" as what the window was in the 2015 new year's drawing. Plus the "Annie Hall" DVD went out of print recently so maybe that could be an answer.

Re: The Mystery of the Phantom Web Pages
But, as I said, there very specifically are other phantom pages for castmembers, added at the same time, of Take the Money and Run. There's simply nothing else it could be, short of Annie Hall followed by some other film starring Marcel Hillaire being added to the website.ordinaryperson wrote:No, someone suggested "Interiors" as what the window was in the 2015 new year's drawing. Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Yeah I guess it only could be "Take the Money and Run".
