Second Tuesday at The Flea Pit

The next Second Run screening will take place on Tuesday 8th May 2007.

The film screened will be Jim McBride's 'My Girlfriend's Wedding'.

Jim McBride's documentary is a fascinating profile of his English girlfriend, Clarissa Ainley. With his camera almost entirely trained on her, McBride explores Clarissa's life and loves, her feelings about her parents and children, and documents her green card marriage to a man she has only known for a week. However, as the film progresses, the most revealing truths are about the person behind the camera.

Originally intended as a short, 'My Girlfriend's Wedding' is a fascinating record of a turbulent time and highlights the subjective nature of the filmmaking process. Rarely screened outside the US, this is a great opportunity to see the film.

“At the time I made it, I was fond of referring to it as a fiction film, because it was very much my personal idea of what Clarissa was like, and not at all an objective or truthful view.â€

SECOND RUN GOES TO LEEDS...…
We are delighted to be screening our films at the 23rd Leeds International Film Festival, which runs from 4 - 22 November.

The Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday 4th November and Second Run have been asked to present a very special Festival Opening Night event at the Howard Assembly Rooms:
DAISIES, Věra Chytilová's 1966 classic of surrealist cinema, will be screened with a live improvised soundtrack performed by the band Monkey See Monkey Do.
Monkey See Monkey Do are a Leeds-based group who create all their music spontaneously, making each performance a totally unique event, and have performed at Club nights and events around the UK and Europe. The lucky people of California (well, LA and its surrounds at least) have the wonderful opportunity during February to see many of our fave Czech films - in fact, they are all films which we have released on DVD - on the big screen on 35mm!

The season is called Czech Your Head and has been put together by the Cinefamily at the beautiful Silent Movie Theater and runs on every Saturday during February.
This Saturday 13th is extra-special because Ivan Passer will attend and introduce the screening of his sublime INTIMATE LIGHTING.
