Our webpages for THE PROMISED LAND - including an extract from David Thompson's terrific essay on the film - are now live at our website.

Yes, but even at twice the price, I'd prefer to purchase the Polish Blu-ray (which has English subs).

well I've got Polish B-R and I've got SR's reissue on DVD and as far as I remember (I can not compare it now, my dvd box is not with me) there's just a slight improvement on the Polish disc (+no bonuses as far as I'm concerned). Definitely not night and day difference as it was in case of "The Saragossa Manuscript" and "The Hourglass Sanatorium" Blu Rays - those reissues literally blew me away and trounced old US(?) dvds in terms of picture quality.

"The Promised Land delivers a rich and evocative world, filled with atmosphere and attention to detail. It’s a remarkable achievement...
this is a fantastic looking disc, that does great service to the film’s cinematography and shows how good DVD releases can look when care is taken"

"Situated somewhere between David Lean's epic grandiosity and Luchino Visconti's biting social critique... truly mesmerizing"
