Goodbye, See You Tomorrow (Do widzenia, do jutra)
A film by Janusz Morgenstern
Poland / 1960
Highly regarded in its native Poland, but relatively unknown in the West, Janusz Morgenstern's debut feature is a touching and visually stunning story of a fleeting love affair. Starring Polish icon Zbigniew Cybulski (known as the 'Polish James Dean'), the film also reflects autobiographical aspects of Cybulski's early life as director in the influential 1950s student theatre group Bim Bom which operated from a Gdansk basement. Made in a loose narrative style akin to the French New Wave, the film's cast includes the actors and artists from Bim Bom as well as a young Roman Polanski. A key film of its era, it also features a seductive score by the great Polish composer Krzysztof Komeda (Rosemary's Baby).
• Presented from a superb new high-definition restoration of the film, supervised by the film's cinematographer Jan Laskowski.
• New and improved English subtitle translation.
• 16-page booklet featuring a new essay by writer and film historian Michael Brooke.
• Optimal quality dual-layer disc.
• Released for the first time on DVD in the English-speaking world.
