Pedro Costa is currently, personally, preparing a new HD Master for us which we hope we'll receive not too far into the New Year. As soon as we have the Master we'll announce a date.
Thanks for your patience!

I read somewhere that this was rumored to be released in April. Can anyone verify if the DVD is scheduled to be released within the next few months?

We know Pedro Cosa is in the process of finalising this new master, but we don't want to set a date until we know Pedro's happy and we physically have the new materials in-hand. As soon as we do, we will schedule it as soon as is possible - but there's no date yet.
Hope that's of some help!

Yes, thank you. I know that with the official oversight of Costa and the fact he's personally delivering it to you, it will be up to par with O Sangue in terms of quality.

Amazon is not a reliable guide to release dates.

This is true, but it's been moved up from the end of January 2013, so I'm a little more hopeful than I normally would.

Nice new (final?) artwork in the style of Liverpool and Man of the Story, according to Amazon:

Alongside the mention of Pedro Costa being at the ICA for a Q&A for the showing of Casa the latest Sight and Sound notes Second Runs's release of In Vanda's room. Is this a mistake or have MoC dropped their original plans for more Costa?

Not to be a smart-arse but I'm pretty sure MoC were looking at Ossos on Blu as well.

A gremlin got into the S&S piece... alas, it is a mistake. The mention was to have said 'The screenings mark the DVD release of Casa de Lava by Second Run'; the gremlin turned it into In Vanda's Room.
Our Newsletter should be going out tomorrow and it will contain full details of the Pedro Costa screenings (for which we can't wait!) and our Casa de Lava release.

The new HD master (supervised by Costa) makes all the difference to this new Second Run DVD. I first saw the film on an earlier (French? Spanish?) DVD, which was non-anamorphic, perhaps even wrong AR, and it looks a lot better now. The interview with Costa at Tate Modern was shot for MoC when he was kind enough to talk at length about a lot of his films in a private room. I haven't seen the "Scrapbook" extra yet, but it sounds ace! (haven't read the Rosenbaum essay in the booklet yet either).

The film is so memorable. It was the first Costa film I ever saw, and rewatching it recently – having seen all of Costa's other films in the interim – was extremely rewarding.

I was working on a package with Pedro that included OSSOS, VANDA, COLOSSAL. There were plans to do OSSOS on Blu-ray, but Pedro wasn't happy with the HD he had (it was not as good as the HD Criterion made for their DVD. Pedro regarded the Criterion DVD of OSSOS as excellent). We were hanging on for him to redo his HD, which he really wanted to do. Many months later, and through no fault of Pedro's, nothing had moved forward, so the whole thing went on ice for a while. Which was frustrating. Around 18 months later, I went back and agreed just COLOSSAL with him, which moved quickly, and came out Aug 2011.

I have no idea whether MoC have recently pursued OSSOS and VANDA. I know that Craig would love to, but it's whether Eureka are happy paying for two more films that sell like COLOSSAL YOUTH (which hasn't flown off the shelf, but was never expected to either) and whether they can slot them in the schedule. It's one of my favourite MoC editions (particularly for the opportunity to maintain the pure PAL nature of the film, mirroring how it was shot).

Thanks for the info. Let's hope PC's mini PR tour ups sales for all concerned.

I really can't wait for this, and it looks terrific. I can't even remember how long I've had this on pre-order, but it looks like it was well worth the wait.
