Eureka Newsletter wrote:Until Monday next week we have a special offer running in the store. Spend £30 in a single order and you'll be eligible to order any of the following Spione, The Thief of Bagdad, Intolerance, Les Miserables (Blu-ray) and Diary of a Lost Girl for just £5 each. Simply add them to your basket once you have reached the qualifying amount and they will be discounted in your basket at checkout.

Our February releases of Wild River and The Other are also in stock and shipping now.

I need all of them bar Intolerance so I'll bite. Great deal. Though I guess it means they're not selling very well, which is sad to hear for discs that have only been out 3-4 months.

This might've been totally obvious to everyone else, but each discounted release at £5 each counts towards that £30. So if you want them all you only need to make up another £5 to qualify.

Initially when I read it I assumed you'd have to spend £30 on other titles to then get the discounts on top, which still would've been a pretty good deal.

No, I didn't realise that! I mean it clearly states "add them to your basket once you have reached the qualifying amount and they will be discounted in your basket at checkout". So presumably it's a glitch that allows you to do this.

Hmm, could well be. The new site still seems a little bit slow and shonky so it wouldn't surprise me if there are glitches in there somewhere. Only needing to spend another £5 does make it a bit too good to be true.

Glad I wasn't misreading it in any case, I kept looking at it and thinking 'Am I missing something here?'

Huge thanks Rsdio. I assumed, like many others, that you had to spend £30 first before you can get the other titles. I just put in my order and it works, I have all five discounted titles, plus The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari ordered for £40 with a £50 discount applied.

Which certainly works for me.

Well, you're welcome I guess - though I do feel kinda bad for pointing it out if it does turn out to be a mistake. You'd think if it was somebody would've noticed by now though?

That is so clearly an error on their part, I hope no one takes advantage of it. Just order a couple discs for thirty quid, fer chrissakes, before you add the discounted discs.

A user on another forum used the offer this way and has already had their delivery, so if it is a mistake Eureka don't seem bothered about correcting it.

I do hope it's not a mistake but as a consumer on a bit of a tight budget right now, they just made a sale they otherwise wouldn't have made, so hopefully no one's too aggrieved. And after all, it makes little sense to pass on good prices on the off-chance they weren't actually intended. That's more responsibility as a consumer than I could surely bear.

Makes no sense on their part, but OK. Not trying to make anyone feel too shitty about it. I think I was 2p shy in my order, come to think of it, before I added discounted discs. 8-[

I'm in two minds as to whether the newsletter offer is working as intended. My first interpretation was that the offer wasn't worth bothering with, but whilst how it actually works might appear to be too good to be true, the prices aren't really out of line with the Best Media Group offers.

Rumble Fish (BD)

La Notte (BD)
Le Pont du Nord (BD)
A Time to Love and a Time to Die (BD)
I think that I'm finally in for La notte; the digital extras on the Criterion aren't worth another £5 or £6.

I don't know if previous deals were exclusive to the UK, but as a US-resident I just ordered Cleopatra and Bakumatsu Taiyo-den for a grand total of $22 after shipping.

The discount doesn't work for me; I put ten items in my cart (£138.40 before discount) and clicked my way through to the worldpay interface – no reduction was applied to the four titles mentioned in the Newsflash; still £138.40 at the stage where a confirmation would charge the credit card. Did I misinterpret the wording?

I took this to mean that orders could be placed Monday (today). Was that my mistake and was the offer only valid through the week-end?

Yes Drucker, I can see that... almost. If it said "until March 2", would you have read that as "ending March 1" ?
Anyway, can't be helped now. I was looking to save 40 quid, now I'm saving 100 more!

Add another 60 saved to the bill. I fell into the same linguistic trap. Then again I don't mind saving even more money.

Jeeze. It pains me to think how many times those prices I paid for many of those (most still in Kevyip!). Guess I'll hold off purchasing MoCs now until they're in the 90% off clearance bin :P

I'm assuming that Best Media Group = Eureka? Otherwise these flash sales on Amazon wouldn't really make sense.
I'm also assuming two takeaways from these sales: Their website hasn't been the greatest of enterprises, and 2nd - that they're clearing stock? (it seems surprising that they'd make much/any profit off of some of these sales)

Best Media Group are definitely Eureka yes. And I'd say it probably is a stock clearance or something because they seem to only be putting up limited stock. Dr Mabuse der Spieler Steelbook is already back to its normal price for instance..
