It might be "Sorcerer"; I think Universal is handling international distribution for the film.

Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
I am going to take a guess here, The Story of Temple Drake. Clearly a cult film that has been rediscovered as it has played at the NY film forum last year for the first time since it's original release. And maybe other repertory houses around the US if anyone can confirm. A Paramount pre-code that is currently held by Universal. This is probably coming to CC, as well. The director has a phantom page.

The Last Movie (even though it might be with the Hopper Estate and not Universal)? I just want to see an official release of this already.

Good suggestion. I'd be thrilled if it were that and it certainly fits the description.Buttery Jeb wrote:It might be "Sorcerer"; I think Universal is handling international distribution for the film.

Hear hear! The other recent Hou restorations would also be happily accepted though.artfilmfan wrote:Let there be Dust in the Wind Blu from MoC!

Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
Is Puppetmaster among the new restorations? I think the only decent release of this has been a non-English friendly German DVD. If it's in tomorrow's lineup, it'll go some way to making up for awful covers and many 2013 releases that I've personally found really underwhelming or disappointing.

Other than Dust in the Wind, the only recent restorations that I know of are A Time to Live, A Time to Die and The Sandwich Man.

Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
A very good set of announcements. I've fallen behind on MoC lately but I'll be certain to pick all of these up on, or very soon after, release. Particularly pleased with Red River since it will save me having to buy the French disc - it comes a little bit late for me, since I'm doing a Howard Hawks marathon right now (which means the Paramount Hatari! and El Dorado discs are coming too late too), but it's an absolute must for an upgrade. Does this mean MoC are now dealing with MGM?

Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
I really hope that the Mizoguchi titles will be available seperately, because I already own the Ugetsu disc. But if the price is good enough, then I'll just settle on having two copies.
This release news would be absolutely amazing and mouth wateringly irresistible to me if the WCF titles and Red River weren't also slated (or rumored, in the latter case) to be released by Criterion. As it is, I'll just be dipping in for Nosferatu and Dr. Mabuse for now, and waiting for the final specs on the other titles.

Fantastic set of announcements, especially with the Kalat commentary confirmed for Nosferatu.

Depends on the planet - if you rely on dvd and not blu, then are there are only three new announcements.repeat wrote:Is it possible that not a soul either here nor Facebook nor Twitter is gushing over the fact that fucking DRY SUMMER is coming out on Blu-ray? Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
Jesus, this is the announcement day of the year for me, even beating Criterion's last set. My only wishes are that a.) they'll do a steelbook on Mabuse (so I can eventually get the whole trilogy on steelbook) and b.) that we keep getting new commentaries from Kalat forever

Now that's more like it. Definitely getting Red River, Chikamatsu and the WCF set.

I'm excited about the Mizoguchi box (I knew I was putting off those upgrades for some reason!) and the Kalat commentary for Nosferatu. I might be tempted by Red River since waiting for Criterion to release it might take decades!

Re: MoC Forthcoming, Wishlist and Random Speculation
Vey impressed with MoC's latest announcements, but I was under impression that Caligari was coming along with Nosferatu re-issue.
Was I completely wrong, or it just will happen later?
Also, is it known if MoC is going to publish Intolerance?
Thanks for clarifying!

Caligari won't be until after Feburary at the earliest as the restoration is due to have its world premiere at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival
