Hope they can do some more silents in the near future. Someone said there were some more Lubitsch on the horizon, and I'm surprised Eureka haven't licensed the likes of Häxan and The Phantom Carriage from SF Studios yet...let's wait and see!
I'm also surprised that they haven't explored more of those Scandinavian silents, even in the DVD era. The likes of Sir Arne's Treasure, Ingeborg Holm, and A Man There Was would be amazing. Not to mention the Dreyers.

The second still is from My Father is a Hero (Corey Yuen, 1995).

I'm in for more Corey Yuen, but I'm getting burnt out on HK releases that aren't precisely the ones I want.

Waiting for It's a Drink! It's a Bomb! to surface - you'd think it would be on their (and 88's) radar given the strength of that cast and the love for David Chung's subsequent Yeohs. Not exactly a wild action 'stunt' movie tho

It’s been over a decade since I saw My Father is a Hero, but really recall enjoying it at the time. I distinctly remember Li tossing around his son like a weapon in glee. I think at one point, this was one of those Dragon Dynasty titles that never made it to disc in the US in its original cut, but was dumped on streaming along with Bodyguard from Beijing, God of Cookery, and various Shaw/Celestial titles.

Rights issues and source material issues pretty much guarantee that I should just be happy with the laserdiscs I own. I’m convinced I’ll never see a release of all the Warner/Golden Harvest treasures like Slickers vs. Killers, License to Steal, or Too Many Ways to Be No. 1.

Another tease was identified as Hitman, another Jet Li film (1998).

I guess with Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan being squeezed dry, it makes sense that they'd start spamming Stephen Chow. Can't say I have any problems with that!

Glad they are releasing more Stephen Chow titles but I hope they release better Chow titles like King of Comedy, Love on Delivery, and The God of Cookery.

God of Cookery is going to be either with Eureka or 88 if recent UK releases/announcements are any indication. That leaves Shaolin Soccer (which had a recent-ish Korean BD), All's Well Ends Well, All For The Winner, Flirting Scholar, King of Comedy (no, not that one!) and A Chinese Odyssey Parts One & Two.

I agree Eureka's HK titles have been a bit underwhelming all year long and where there's been an overlap with 88 US, they've been bested by the competition IMO. I was looking forward to She Shoots Straight but the melodrama in the last 45 minutes especially was too much even for a seasoned Hongkong viewer like me. The action was pretty cool but the rest of the film was a soap opera cranked up to eleven. Not a film I'm tempted to rewatch so I passed on buying. Maybe they'll have King Hu's The Valiant Ones and Johnnie To's The Mission (which was finally restored this year) in 2024.

After the massive success of the Once Upon a Time in China series, Jet Li moved away from period settings and started to focus on action films set in the modern-era, a decision that would make him an international icon and of the biggest stars in the history of Hong Kong cinema.

In The Enforcer (aka My Father is a Hero) Li is an undercover police officer tracking down a notorious Hong Kong crime lord. Teaming up with his martial-arts prodigy son and a female officer (Anita Mui), together they lay down the law! In Dr Wai in “The Scripture with No Words” a down on his luck pulp fiction author (Li) lives vicariously through one of his characters, an Indiana Jones-esque adventurer searching for a mythical scripture. Then, in Hitman (aka Contract Killer), Li plays Tai Feng, a young assassin with a “sense of justice” who crosses paths with the “King of Killers” — a legendary vigilante with a huge bounty on his head.

Eureka Classics is proud to present three of Jet Li’s most beloved action films on Blu-ray for the first time ever in the UK.

Has been known for a while that they have both Samurai Wolf and Samurai Wolf 2, so I assume that'll be a double-set for MoC. And definitely one I'll be pre-ordering!

Do we expect either of these films to require censoring because of animal cruelty?

Eureka have posted hints for February releases, which are Paths of Glory 4K, Yakuza Wolf I and II, and Slaughter in San Francisco.

Looks like they've started to hit the bottom of the barrel of the Fortune Star titles with the release of Slaughter in San Francisco.

I hope Slaughter is a 4K, just to watch the world burn.
