The final cover is now on the site.
can you please confirm the type of cases/packaging used for the MOC series of DVDs?

from other posts in this thread my best guess so far is some kind of transparent keep case. but essentially still a regular keep case of normal dimensions and width?

single discs = clear Amaray
double discs = clear Amaray (same size as above), with "page".

Thank You. I had a feeling after the Humanity and Paper Balloons annoucement you'd be putting out some more Japanese stuff. If it's Imamura or Naruse you'll have my undying love...

Well lets thank our lucky stars that they exist, their releases to date have been superlative... and what ever future releases they unleash on us film fans is going to be a treat!
Having said that if any Naruse titles come out this year (Yama No Oto :D ) I will be more than pleased!

Sorry - the Naruse haven't been restored yet in Japan, and won't be coming from us in 2005 (even though it's his centenary this year).

We have a full slate for 2005 now and are well into licensing for 2006 (lotsa Japanese there too).

We'll be a few weeks yet before we're in a position to reveal May and June's titles, but a reissue of THE LAST LAUGH as DER LETZTE MANN will pop out in June (disc content will be identical to the very hot Eureka disc currently available. It's currently out-of-stock at Eureka headquarters, so a reprint is needed and it's entering the MoC Series with a new name, sleeve and booklet).

It's a shame about Naruse and the way his films are being neglected by restorers. Sadly I will miss out on Nick's new designed booklet for Der Letzte Mann as I already own the existing Eureka disc :(

These then, are my guesses:

* Kaneto Shindo's Naked Island

* Sadao Yamanaka's The Million Ryo Pot and Soshun Kochiyama

* Hiroshi Teshigahara's Man without a Map and Summer Soldiers

* Toshio Matsumoto's Funeral Parade of Roses

So, how many out of 6 did I guess right? ;)

So tantalising...if you can't tell us what you're releasing, can you at least tell us when the site will announce the new titles?

And busier. I think peerpee is as eager to share information about new MoC titles as we are to hear about them, when the information is ready.

Mulvaney, on the other hand, is just a cheap tease.

I think Peerpee is being more than generous. We now know to expect atleast one of those listed Japanese films, and no matter which one it is, its reason for celebration.

I couldn't agree more. My hunger for rare & classic Japanese cinema got the better of me. I think the MoC series will be great for Japanese films, and I couldn't be happier with their announcements so far...

Will we see any more Weimar cinema this year, besides Der letzte Mann and Tagebuch einer Verlorenen?

I can announce that we will be releasing NAKED ISLAND (Shindo).

When? I don't know - but a month or two afterwards, we'll release ONIBABA and KURONEKO back to back.

NAKED ISLAND and ONIBABA will have Shindo commentaries.

---
TAGEBUCH EINER VERLORENEN is off the schedule at the moment, I'm afraid. That's not to say we won't do it, but it won't be this year.

re: more Weimar. Impossible to say exactly what might come out. We're working very close to release dates at the moment, and we can't look into the future. Obviously, we've announced DIE NIBELUNGEN, and there are possibilities for FAUST, etc - but I have no more information. I will announce things as soon as I can do.

Wow! Thanks for revealing all this! :D =D> =D>

You mean the 92-year-old director will provide commentary to his films?!
Way to blow the Criterion Onibaba out of the water!

The Japanese set of Teshigahar films has English subtitles for the two films being released on MoC series, but not on "Man without a Map". As an owner of that set I much regreted that that film was not chosen for release by MoC. Any hope for it in the future?

We tried a number of times for THE MAN WITHOUT A MAP but weren't allowed due to copyright issues with Abe's publishers in the UK. I can't recall the specifics at the moment.

Superb! Outstanding! Kuroneko is crying out for a DVD release, and as for bagging Shindo commentaries...I can only say bravo

the Teshigaharas have slipped one week to Feb 28th.
Is this still the case? E-tailers seem to have them on schedule for the 21st.
