Re: Twilight Time
I guarantee you it won't have a magnet, though, so there's still immense value to be had since your SAE order should always come with a magnet, and of late, preferably one wholly unrelated to the title you have ordered--it's like a Cracker Jack box, only much, much better.domino harvey wrote:Violent Saturday coming to Blu-ray in France from Carlotta. Though in all honesty, I will freely admit that I'm happy to see TT get serious about porting extras on their releases. And I assume they will have the definitive version of Major Dundee, so they'll get at least one order from me this year.

Better yet I bought it. I might have to relieve my TT ban for the Bogdanovich though.Perkins Cobb wrote:You can thank me; I watched it again on DVD this week. Groan.captveg wrote:Ecstatic about The Driver. Love that film.

Re: Twilight Time
Leave Her to Heaven! One of my favorite films & one of the very greatest examples of Technicolor cinematography (the DVD looks great, the 35mm print from a few years ago also looks great, so a blu should be spectacular). It was always one of my most-wanted blu-ray releases and here it comes!

Re: Twilight Time
The Driver and Leave Her To Heaven: fantastic news!! Given TT's past record, the former should finally receive the HD presentation it deserves after that pathetic, interlaced Japanese disc.

Re: Twilight Time
"here's what we know about the upcoming Blu-ray of AT LONG LAST LOVE so far...it is a brand-new restoration done with the full participation of Peter Bogdanovich. It is a slightly new cut with a longer running time than any previous version: 123 minutes. Additionally, it is framed at 1.66:1 which is apparently how it was always supposed to be framed, but evidently wasn't since most showings had previously been 1.85:1."

Re: Twilight Time
I figured we were, but nice to get confirmation of getting the "Fox Editing Bay" Cut that showed up on NetFlix. I have no idea what Bogdanovich was thinking when he cut out the twenty-three minutes that were folded back in, but the addition takes it from entertaining curio to as close as anyone's gonna get to making a good modern musical. Interesting on the 1.66-- you really could barely tell the Netflix/VHS cuts circulating were P+Sed except in the "Did You Evah" number, so that sounds about right

It's killing me forking out 25 quid a pop for these! Bloody loved BONJOUR TRISTESSE and THE BIG HEAT though. I have SWAMP WATER but haven't got to it yet. Just ordered RAPTURE and THE ROOTS OF HEAVEN.

My wallet is hurting too. Experiment in Terror was a great start to 2013 for them, and I have Nicholas and Alexandra pre-ordered. But looking forward through to June there are another £150 worth of titles I want, maybe more if reviews are good for some others.

Re: Twilight Time
They have it as an option, but it is not mandatory. I've never used it and never had a problem with any of my 6 or so deliveries. It's obviously just a scare tactic best ignored, I've spoken to international SAE users online who have used them for years and never had an order go missing.

I don't know if they allow international shipping, but they do have a site on Amazon which may cure shipping woes.david hare wrote:Yeah, I realize it's a complete con, but I was one of many people here who got badly burnt years ago by orders that never arrived from DeepDiscountDVD. I just wish someone else sold their damn titles.

Or you can use the Paypal option at the checkout, and if something did go missing your cash could be claimed back from Paypal rather than SAE. That's how I understand it works anyway.

Great news on the Walter Hill movies. I'll probably get the Bogdanovich as well. And, yes, my wallet's going to hurt too.

That cover for The Fury somehow manages to be worse than the previous one. That's seriously awful in a rather spectacular fashion.
